Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist | M.S., L.M.F.T.

Are you feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or stuck in negative patterns? Do you struggle with saying no or setting healthy boundaries with others? Is there a painful experience from your past that still holds you back from building meaningful relationships or finding success in your career?

Hello, I’m Laura LaPointe, LMFT and for over 30 years, I’ve been helping people just like you break free from the cycles of depression, anxiety, abuse, loneliness and relationship problems. My specialty is guiding individuals to overcome these challenges and rediscover their strength, confidence, and ability to make the changes necessary to live more fulfilling lives. Together, we can work to heal past wounds and help you start to build a future full of hope, purpose and restored relationships with loved ones and God.

I provide individual and couples therapy to men and women both in my office and online. I have been a Christian for over 45 years and my faith is at the core of who I am and how I understand and work with my Christian clients. I am passionate about helping my clients find healing, clarity, and freedom through compassionate therapy.

(For a free brief 15-minute consultation, give me a call at (626) 466-7616 and I will answer any question you may have about individual or couples therapy, I would love to hear from you.)

My clinical approach is rooted in evidence-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which is practical, solution-focused, and collaborative. I don’t just listen to my clients; I engage them in the process of understanding their thoughts and behaviors, identifying what’s blocking them from achieving their goals, and teaching them life skills they may have missed in key parts of their childhood development. We work together to create intentional plans for change, and I’m there every step of the way to teach, coach, guide, emotionally support and cheer them on.

It is incredibly rewarding to see my clients experience true freedom as they break free from the things that have hurt them, and restore their relationships with God and others.

In addition to my work with men, women and couples, I have extensive experience working with women who have experienced various forms of abuse, including psychological, physical, sexual, and narcissistic abuse. I have spent many years dedicated to studying and gaining ongoing professional development in trauma-informed care, relationship dynamics, and abuse recovery. I have completed training and read many books on the psychological effects of abuse, overcoming fear and shame, and the unique challenges faced by survivors of trauma. This knowledge allows me to offer an educated, empathetic, and supportive approach to trauma therapy.

Here is the feedback of two of my colleagues who know my work as a therapist:
“Laura is an amazing, warm, non-judgmental, and loving human being who has truly amazing skills as a therapist. She truly, truly cares about her clients, and has helped hundreds of clients both as a group and individual therapist. As a colleague and part of a hospital treatment team, I am privy to the comments of her clients, who simply love her and say how therapeutic she has been for them. She is a joy to work with.” — Dr. T. Duncan “Laura’s wealth of knowledge, years of experience, and genuine warmth make her an excellent therapist!” — Laura Kang, LMFT
