Sydney Spradlin

Licensed Professional Counselor | MA, LPC

I graduated from Texas Tech with a B. A. in Spanish and a minor in French and substantial hours in Philosophy and Art History. I graduated from LeTourneau University with a dual track master’s degree in counseling and marriage and family therapy .

I completed 35 years with American Airlines this September, and it has been quite a ride. I have lived in Raleigh, Boston, Miami, Chicago and now back home in Dallas and have flown both domestic and international routes.

I have experienced a lot of life. The most important moments for me were getting saved in 2000 at the ripe old age of 35, and then entering my church’s Christ-centered recovery program in 2010 where I found freedom from the bondage of anxiety, depression, guilt and shame. I followed the call to push my boundaries and served in that ministry, first as a co-leader and then as a coach for seven years.

Seeing others experience healing from their pain and self-defeating patterns as they grew closer to God and became secure in their identity Christ was an amazing privilege. Seeing spouses, siblings and families reunited because of that healing was icing on the cake. As someone who struggled with the pain of alienation and personal wounds and made many poor decisions until I found healing, I want to offer others solidarity and a safe place to heal.

Passion
It is my desire to help others who, like I was, are in pain and experiencing problems in relationships and life. I am aware of what trying to look good on the outside while struggling with hurts and fear on the inside is like. My joy is found in helping people connect- with Christ, themselves, and others.

It is important to me to keep learning and acquiring the understanding and the tools that I can use to help others. One of these approaches, EMDR (eye movement, desensitization, and reprocessing) has been proven to help with trauma. I am EMDR trained and am excited to be able to offer it in addition to talk therapy approaches.

I often wish that I could have experienced a counselor who offered me unconditional acceptance at an earlier time in my life and when I was far from God. I desire to give to others the hope that I have received and the opportunity to experience life differently.
