Sarah Joyner

Licensed Professional Counselor

Sarah has been a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Virginia since 2012. She received her B.A. in Biology/Pre-Medicine from Taylor University, and her M.A. in Counseling from Asbury Theological Seminary. Sarah’s office is located in Richmond, VA, for in-person appointments, and available for virtual appointments to anyone in the state of Virginia.

In meeting with clients, Sarah utilizes a holistic approach, viewing and addressing persons as whole beings, consisting of body, mind, soul, and spirit. Sarah finds value in coming alongside her clients to process their stories and to help them find a path forward. She utilizes a mix of mindfulness-based CBT, psychodynamic, family systems, IFS/Parts work, somatic based interventions, and EMDR to help adolescents, adults, families, and couples with such issues as anxiety, depression, family of origin issues, relationship and marital issues, and trauma.

Sarah is trained in utilizing EMDR (EMDRIA approved) with both individuals and couples. Also, as a certified Prepare-Enrich administrator, Sarah facilitates premarital counseling for couples. Sarah has completed Level 1 and Level 2 of the Gottman method for marriage counseling. Sarah has also completed the first two levels of Elijah House Training for inner healing work.
