Rev. Max Loya

Licensed Professional Counselor | MA, LPC

I am an Intensive Therapist with “Hope Restored” at the Branson Retreat Center of the Focus Marriage Institute. My wife, Carol, is also a Licensed Professional Counselor and a “Hope Restored” Intensive Therapist. Together we own NYOT Counseling, LLC. NYOT stands for “Not Your Ordinary Therapist” – we are not your run-of-the-mill counselors! We have been married for over 40 years and have 7 children.

Besides being a Licensed Professional Counselor, I am an ordained minister. We were missionaries to Costa Rica for 14 years, returning to the US with 5 kids who were born there. I am also a veteran, an entrepreneur and now a grandpa as well!

I can relate to a wide variety of people because of my background: I am a bilingual and bi-cultural Hispanic who was saved at the age of 20. Besides Theology and Counseling, I have work experience in engineering, computer programing, small business start-ups and executive management. I grew up hunting and fishing in the Southwest and enjoyed hiking, camping and backpacking in Scouts.

My life experiences include cultural adaptation and re-entry into American society, trauma recovery, returning to school later in life, facing financial setbacks and experiencing major depression…and seeing that God is bigger than all of that! He truly is a God of healing, miracles and second chances! My passion is to see marriages and families healed and strengthened and to help people find spiritual direction in their lives so that they can experience God in ways they never even dreamed possible!
