My first college training was in the field of food and nutrition. The part of the job I loved the most was working with individuals. After being a stay at home mom, I was able to go back to college to get my degree in social work. After many years of working with agencies, I am glad to have the freedom to open my own practice. I recently heard a quote that I believe is a good summary and description of therapy- “Helping people feel fully alive in the present.” There are barriers to feeling alive in the present. The goal of therapy is to provide support to address those obstacles and develop skills to be able to connect and address obstacles.
