Mrs. Tabitha Switzer

Licensed Marriage Family Therapist – Associate | MA, MFTC

I am deeply dedicated to helping Christian couples have the covenant marriage that God designed it to be. Our world throws so much at us and has done a great job at tainting marital expectations and outright thwarting the experience if we let it. I believe God designed us for relationships and the marriage relationship in particular was carefully crafted by our Creator to fulfill that need for connection. At the end of the day, we are imperfect humans, living in a fallen world and as such encounter obstacles and relationship difficulties that challenge the perfect union God has in mind. I love helping Christian couples honor their marriage covenant by establishing emotional intimacy, bonding, and identifying cycles of interacting that are damaging their relationship.

I am excited to offer clients therapy based on Focus On The Family’s Focus Marriage Model. In this approach, clients learn about the cycle they get stuck in and what to do to stop it. I incorporate attachment styles and help clients understand how these influence their relationship patterns. Viewing you, not myself, as the expert on your relationship, I come alongside you on your journey to a better relationship, offering guidance and knowledge to help you navigate the paths that lead to your desired destination.

Couples will find that I also offer a unique counseling opportunity for couples where one or both have Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). I help couples understand how OCD is playing out in their relationship, help the family member learn about OCD and how they can support their loved one with OCD.

Clients with OCD will find an alternative approach to OCD with me as I use Inference-based Cognitive Behavior Therapy (ICBT) instead of Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). Compulsions are still addressed, but from an “upstream” approach that is informed by the “obsessional sequence” and the story that OCD is telling the individual. ICBT helps clients to understand how their values and convictions are key players in the story OCD tells them, which can often be very difficult for Christians.
