Hello,
I have over 10 years of experience in school counseling and therapy work in public school districts and about 2 years of work experience as a counselor in several non-profit agencies. I work with children (starting at 11), teens, and adult populations. My counseling approach is distinctly biblical and sourced in the healing, restorative and life transforming power of God’s Holy word- The Holy Bible. I believe that secular counseling theories are valid, and useful, insofar as they align with Scripture. My experience has shown me that there is practical benefit in using certain secular therapies that reflect principles in God’s word (e.g., Solution Focused Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy). Thus, such therapies, when enhanced by Scripture, can help clients resolve their problems biblically.
Currently, I am pursuing the Doctorate in Educational Ministry (DEdMin) degree at Dallas Theological Seminary. I hold a Master’s degree in Biblical Studies from Dallas Theological Seminary and a Master’s degree in Counseling from Texas A & M University-Commerce. I am a Certified School Counselor, LCDC and an LPC-S. I’ve been in private practice at Christian Counseling Associates on a part-time basis since 2006. Finally, I am an EAP mental health provider with Aetna (this service is separate from Christian Counseling Associates).
