Licensed Professional Counselor | MS, LPC,CAADC
I am credentialed in the state of Michigan as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)and Certified Advanced Alcohol and Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADC). I earned my master’s degree in Clinical Psychology and Counseling Psychology as well as a Post Bachelor Certificate in Theory of Addictive Behavior from Capella University after graduating with a BS in Human Services at Lake Superior State University. I have 28 years of experience in a variety of mental health settings from outpatient therapy offices, inpatient substance abuse rehabs, to partial hospitalization programs and specialized substance abuse treatment and I currently manage my own mental health therapy and consulting outpatient practice.
I have worked with individuals facing issues related to heightened emotions, problems regulating their emotions, attention deficit hyperactive disorder, life changes, relationship issues, family issues, anxiety, depression, anger issues, post-traumatic stress disorder, grief, codependency, and addiction. I have just finished supervising an intern (training hands-on and observing her) the last two years at JE CRAIG AND ASSOCIATES where the client focus was with teens, children and their families regarding life adjustment due to parent separation, foster care, trauma, grief, ADHD, depression and anxiety.
My therapy practices are guided by the belief that people are best when their whole person is balanced in physical, mental. social, and spiritual. People when given the tools can reflect on how to change and can generate solutions to their own problems. I am enthusiastic about helping clients to start a new path to discover their individual talents, and abilities. I use a combination of motivational interviewing (MI), and informed dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), IFS informed therapy, as well as other evidenced-based techniques to help clients achieve their goals in treatment.
My practice is focused on a nonjudgmental counseling experience characterized by positive affirmations, integrity, compassion, and empathy. I have been helping people put the broken pieces back together to repair their life. God is forgiving, and I am here to help to be a safe and nonjudgmental place to help with the process of change.
