Aloha, my name is Aaron Collins and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist serving individuals, couples, children, and families in Hawaiʻi. I am passionate about helping people strengthen their relationships, restore hope, and grow in emotional and spiritual health.
My counseling work often focuses on marriage counseling, family relationships, parenting challenges, trauma recovery, and helping individuals navigate life transitions, anxiety, and relational stress. As a marriage and family therapist, I approach problems through a systemic lens, recognizing that many struggles are connected to relational patterns within families and important relationships.
I integrate several evidence-based approaches in my work. I am trained in EMDR therapy (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to help clients process and heal from traumatic experiences and distressing memories. In working with couples, I often draw from the Gottman Method, which focuses on strengthening friendship, improving communication, and building practical skills that support long-term relationship health.
I also incorporate principles from Marshall Rosenberg’s Compassionate Communication (Nonviolent Communication) to help clients better understand themselves and others. This approach helps individuals identify underlying feelings and needs, express themselves more clearly, and develop empathy and understanding within their relationships.
In sessions, I aim to create a safe and supportive environment where clients can process stressors through attentive listening, thoughtful reflection, and collaborative problem-solving. My goal is to help people gain clarity, strengthen communication, and move toward healthier patterns in their lives and relationships.
As a Christian, I am available to integrate biblical principles, prayer, and faith-based perspectives into counseling when clients request it. I respect each client’s values and seek to support them in integrating their faith, emotional health, and relationships in meaningful ways.
Please note: I am currently licensed in the State of Hawaiʻi and am only able to provide therapy to clients who are physically located within Hawaiʻi at the time of service.
