Mrs. Annette Stanley

Licensed Professional Counselor | MA, LPC

As a Christian counselor with immediate openings, it would be my honor to join you on your journey to freedom, healing and joy in life. Whether you are struggling with a relationship issue, a mental health diagnosis, chronic illness, or just feel stuck in life, I see my role as a supportive coach who facilitates the work you would like to do. Sometimes we just need someone to be a witness to what we are living and partner with us to continue the journey with hope. I give my clients individualized attention, and no treatment plan is alike. You are a person of worth and your story matters. Having dealt with a variety of issues, I enjoy working with adolescents, adults, couples and families. I earned a BA in Social Work from Asbury College in 1995 and an MA in Counseling from MidAmerica Nazarene University in 2011. While training and skills are vital to our profession, life experience and empathy is a key component to credibility in the counseling room. The scars I wear are evidence of God’s healing and transforming power in my life. God desires that transformative healing for you as well!

I have pursued additional specialized training in helping marriages move through crisis and transitions, but also help couples achieve greater satisfaction with communication and managing the inevitable conflict that arises in relationship. Trained in both Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy and Gottman methodologies, there is most often a path to healing available. I am also Prepare/Enrich certified and offer premarital counseling. I offer both intensive and traditional models of therapy so that the best outcomes for each situation can be achieved.

I have a unique background having been raised in Irian Jaya, Indonesia, with my parents who served as missionaries, which laid the foundation for a life of ministry. In addition to counseling, I have served at a crisis pregnancy clinic, worked with teens struggling with family and school relationships and supported individuals and families facing Alzheimer’s disease working in specialty care units, and local church ministries with both women, teens and marriage mentoring. I have been married over 30 years and have 3 grown children. Moving from Arizona to Virginia in 2024 presented a significant change for me and my family, and shifted my practice to a video therapy format. I am licensed to practice in Arizona, Virginia, and Florida.
