Mrs. Kristen Schiopota

Kristen Schiopota, the founder of Hope Family Counseling, earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology at Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio and a Master’s Degree in Community Counseling at Kent State University. She is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), an independent license issued for counseling by the state of Ohio. Kristen has experience in outpatient, group, school, and in-home settings. She has specialized in marriage and family issues as well as women’s issues for more than 20 years. She is a certified EMDR therapist and specializes in working with women afflicted by trauma

Kristen has also attended the National Association of Nouthetic Counselors (NANC) training in Indiana, attended the Biblical Counseling Institute’s Biblical Counseling Series as well as trainings on such topics as anxiety, marriage and parenting presented by Ed Welch from the Christian Counseling and Education Foundation (CCEF).

Her focus areas include communication, adjustment issues, parenting, grief and bereavement, depression and anxiety disorders, trauma, sexual abuse, food addictions, anger management, family therapy, and marital issues. Kristen is a trained trauma therapist and has a certification in EMDR therapy.
