Licensed Professional Counselor | MEd, LPC, LMHC
I was born in a suburb of Chicago, IL, lived in Tulsa, OK, and was raised in Arlington, TX. I was a sensitive, yet social child, seeking out people and solitude. When I was 15, my best friend was killed in a car accident and this loss led me to become active in the church and in my Christian faith. In college I obtained my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at the University of Texas at Austin. I then worked in childcare, pet sitting, and with Southwest Airlines in the reservation department. I then returned to the University of North Texas where I obtained my Master’s Degree in Counselor Education. At this point I had a one-year-old and I took the next twelve years to raise her and her two younger brothers. During this time, I homeschooled for a few years, was a pastor’s wife, helped my husband with his faith-based business and enjoyed being a stay at home mom. In 2010, I worked at a Christian counseling practice in St. Louis, MO, and in 2011, I was a school counselor at a Christian school in St. Louis. In 2014, I left these and opened my own private practice in Union, MO. The years of 2010-2014 were rewarding and challenging as I became a widow, single mother, new wife and stepmom, moved to a new town, and started my own business. I lived in Union, MO from 2012-2020 and moved to Nocatee/Ponte Vedra, FL in May 2020 when my youngest son graduated from high school and entered the Army.
I know what it’s like to be both the receiver and the giver of counsel! I have spent time in family counseling as a teenager with my mother, as a young adult overcoming emotional eating, premarital counseling, marital counseling, and for anxiety as a young adult. I have been involved with GriefShare, a grief recovery support group, as I grieved the death of a close family member. Recently, I was a participant in Divorce Care, as I navigate through being divorced, due to betrayal and the sudden end to our marriage.
I want to give to my clients what my counselors have given me: to feel heard, to have hope, to provide empathy and understanding and words of wisdom. These qualities are what I, as a Christian counselor, can give to help my clients work through their difficulties and struggles.
In 2023, I was voted Best Counselor in Ponte Vedra, FL. in 2024, I moved to Texas to be near my grandson and family.
I have a peaceful office inside a church. I am available Mon.-Sat. for online sessions for MO, TX, and FL clients; in person for DFW area. My self pay rate for a 45 minute session is $90, a 60 minute session is $120, and a 90 minute session is $170. I do not accept insurance or EAP sessions, except Centerstone Military Services sessions. Why do I not offer insurance? By doing private pay I am able to focus entirely on your needs and goals. YOU direct the sessions; not the insurance companies. Your information is private and not open to insurance oompanies’ frequent audits.
My latest training…Are you engaged or dating with the goal of marriage? I am a SYMBIS (Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts) facilitator. As your facilitator I will get you and your partner set up to take the assessment and go over the report in detail. The SYMBIS Assessment gives you a personalized road map to making your marriage everything it was meant to be!
