Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist | MA, LMFT
I provide remote services only
I am legally blind and hearing-impaired. I use a white cane or a sighted guide to get around and I wear hearing-aids to hear. I enjoy surfing in the waters of the Pacific Northwest where I wear a thick wetsuit to keep from freezing because those waters are COLD! I also enjoy spending time with my wife and 18-month-old daughter whenever I can.
As a child and teen I struggled with anxiety, depression, and even suicidal ideation due to experiences of rejection and bullying. In my teens and twenties I even turned my back on my Christian upbringing out of anger at God. Despite this, God worked in my life to open my eyes to His love and goodness, ironically after I began to lose my eyesight. While I am still growing in my faith walk, I know that God is good and I can lean on His goodness in all things…and I know that when my faith falters, He is always going to be there for me, much like the father in the parable of the Prodigal Son.
I have training and experience working with teens and adults as they deal with depression and anxiety; Couples dealing with marriage issues; Couples preparing to get married (pre-marriage); and Parents dealing with parent/child issues. I like to give room for my client to share with me as we work together to explore their story, how their story is impacting their life in the present, and find acceptance for those parts of themselves that they have tried to avoid or suppress while also striving towards God’s grace and plan for their lives using appropriate and applicable biblical principals, teachings, and practices.
I am currently working exclusively through telehealth using HIPAA compliant software and platforms to maintain client confidentiality. While telehealth does not provide for the intimacy of face-to-face meetings, it has been shown to be very effective for helping clients dealing with most issues, and furthermore it has the advantage of allowing you, the client, to meet from the comfort of your own home without the need for accounting for travel time and other logistical concerns.
I am credentialed with Premera Blue Cross (WA), LifeWise (WA), Aetna (UT), Cigna (UT), and Quest Behavioral Health (UT). I am also able to bill out-of-network with some insurances. I bill on a per-session basis and use automated billing in order to eliminate any confusion.
