Have you experienced overwhelming stress in your life? Do you often feel unseen, unwanted, or under-appreciated? Do you feel stuck, overwhelmed, or easily irritated? Maybe you’re not even sure why, but you have a feeling something is just not working well. Your relationships don’t offer the support you wish they did. You feel isolated, overwhelmed and angry much of the time, or you are either avoiding conflict or having more arguments than you’d like.

But you know there’s more than this cycle you feel trapped in, a way to feel better, to understand the deeper roots of what’s contributing to your stress, and a way to break free. Hello! My name is Jennifer Grubbs, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I help guide you in understanding and managing your emotions, developing coping strategies, and facilitating healing and growth. I provide a safe and supportive space for you to process your experiences, helping you regain a sense of control and resilience.

At times, life can present us with challenges that feel overwhelming and difficult to navigate on our own. For individuals who embrace Christian faith, working with a Christian therapist can offer unique benefits, such as shared faith and understanding, integration of faith and therapy, spiritual guidance and discernment, values-aligned counseling, and support.

I see each person as valuable in the eyes of God, so I approach therapy with that same value on each person. I use a variety of therapy techniques to show grace, confront hard truths, and build strengths in each person with whom I work. I help you identify connections in your life that may not be so easy to see, and I work with you to help you build up the strengths that you already have. I approach therapy from a holistic point of view, starting with the presenting issue, and moving outward from there. I hope therapy feels as comfortable as sharing a good cup of coffee with a friend, in that we chat, we discuss, we brainstorm together, and you leave each session feeling empowered, hopeful, and secure in who you are and who God created you to be.

I received my Bachelor of Liberal Arts in Psychology from the University of Illinois at Chicago and my Master of Social Work degree from Indiana University South Bend. My career has focused on substance abuse issues and prevention, family relational problems, anxiety, depression, early childhood trauma, and self-esteem struggles.

In gardening, the unwanted or overgrown parts of a plant must be trimmed back or cut away to allow for fruit or blossoms to grow. Sometimes, we need to do the same in our life. Although pruning may sound painful and difficult, it is not a punishment. Pruning enhances growth by removing what inhibits us and allows us to grow. It may take some work, but you will not be alone. I’m here to help you remove the unwanted thoughts, behaviors, and habits in order to help you grow in love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23).
