Cindy Hearson

Licensed Master Social Worker | MSW, LMSW

My name is Cindy Hearson, LMSW, and I am married and have one teenage daughter who is living at home with us. We have another daughter, age 33, who is married and has a teenage son. We are a blended family, as both, my husband and I have been married in the past. During that time each of us had a daughter, however, this is both of our first time being married as Christians to another Christian. We were married May 19, 2018, and we both understand the importance in maintaining a strong relationship with God first, spouse second and children third. Learning how to communicate with each other is key in maintaining healthy relationships.

Working with people for the last 41 years as a hairstylist allowed me to learn how to listen to people and allow them a safe place to talk. I wanted something more to help people and decided to return to school in 2007. I graduated from Friends University in 2012 with my bachelor’s in business administration with a focus on Human Resource Management feeling I would continue working with people to develop their professional skills. Again, I had to shift my career direction and God opened the door for me to return to Wichita State University in 2016 to earn my Master of Social Work. I graduated in May of 2020 and passed my licensure exam in December of 2020. I feel He is responsible for this shift and has guided me on this amazing journey. In January of 2021, I opened my private practice knowing God was in the driver’s seat.

Currently I am focusing on working with Blended Families, The Family Structure, Marriage, Individual Therapy with kids ages 6-12, teens and adults. Working with young pre-teens 13-17 to young adults 18-30, has been exciting as I work with them in their journey understanding their emotions and feelings and embracing the needed changes to reach their individual goals. Working with older adults, thirty and up, has also shown a lot of challenges due to unforeseen changes in their lives which shifted their journey very abruptly whether it is a career loss, death of a parent, a sibling, a child, or spouse.

Cognitive Behavior Therapy blended with Mindfulness has been lifechanging for many of my clients. Emotion Focused Therapy, Play Therapy, Narrative Therapy are also options I offer to clients during their therapy sessions based on each individual’s needs. I’ve seen clients who are struggling with Trauma, Addictions, Panic Disorder, Depression, Anxiety Disorder, Adjustment Disorders, and loss. I want to encourage and support each of them through their journey toward recovery.

Navigating through the various crossroads life brings is challenging in the best of times, and when people are facing unforeseen changes, they sometimes need emotional support from a professional to better understand their emotions, depression, addictions, stresses, and anxieties. I would like an opportunity to work with you if you feel you can benefit from the psychotherapy services I am providing.

I am a provider with Blue Cross Blue Shield, and KanCare/Medicaid with United Behavioral Health, Aetna, and Sunflower, as well as self-pay.
