Licensed Professional Counselor | MDiv, MA, LPC
I am passionate about people and the multitude of ways that God has brought about our stories. In my work as a counselor, I am fundamentally a man of faith and I am also clinically trained. This means that I consider what God teaches through His word and Spirit to be foundational and transformational, and I also recognize and leverage what science can tell us about the way our minds and bodies work.
As a man who has been deeply affected and healed by counseling, I love working with all kinds of people. As a former military aviator (pilot) and US Air Force Officer, working with military families and their struggles is something I care deeply about. But after spending time in ministry and traveling throughout the world in various missional contexts, God has given me a heart for his Church and the unique challenges that church leaders face. From working with teenagers and the struggle this time in our lives brings, to the married couple who has decades of experience, I love working with people who are struggling and are wanting change.
Healing and change happens within the context of relationships. I find that using a number of methods and treatments options helps me tailor my counseling approach to your needs. As a counselor who integrates multiple treatment modalities, I like to offer my clients multiple avenues of healing and growth. I have spent lots of my ministry in mental health through treating depression – abuse (sexual, emotional, physical, spiritual) – suicide (including self harm) – PTSD – anxiety – men’s sexual issues – sexuality – blended families – trauma – military – marriage – career – and addiction (alcohol, drug, and sexual).
I received my Bachelor’s in Foreign Area Studies and Russian Studies from the United States Air Force Academy. Following several years of work as a military aviator and US Air Force Officer, I returned to graduate school/seminary to pursue a Master’s of Arts in Counseling and a Master’s of Divinity at Covenant Theological Seminary. Over the years as a counselor I have worked in a community based counseling center, as a staff counselor for a church counseling center, and in independent practice. I am currently a Licensed Professional Counselor in the Commonwealth of Virginia and the State of Colorado. In addition, telehealth is certainly an option and encouraged if you need this means of counseling. I look forward to meeting you!
